About Lauren’s Design Work

L first moved to Detroit in 2021 to attend the College for Creative Studies, which ended up being some of the most formative years of their life. Here, they learned how to think, explore, and define their creative process, and grew their lifelong passion for storytelling, music, video games, and the broader digital world. L also found design to be the perfect intersection between art, technology, and human expression, the 3 things they valued and still value the most in their design philosophy to this day. 

Digital design became their creative outlet of choice, with their love of storytelling being integrated through image, typography, and especially sequential projects with motion. Building strong relationships with fellow designers, they graduated with a BFA in May 2025, majoring in Communication Design, and after gaining several amazing friends both within and outside of CCS, they officially moved out of the dorms and into the North End suburbs of Detroit in 2024, where they could begin to build their identity extended beyond college, and work on a near daily basis to design for the community that accepted them just a few short years ago. 

Outside of their design work, L enjoys environmental photography, collecting flyers and zines around Detroit, and visiting friends and local businesses. They still love interacting with art and the electronic / digital world in the form of playing instruments, watching their favorite video games and creators, and sometimes creating their own motion projects in their spare time. Many of their favorite games, movies, and media also influence their work and overall design philosophy.
